Are Silpat® and Flexipan® molds reusable?
It depends on where you are. Orders processed here will take 5-7 business days to arrive. Overseas deliveries can take anywhere from 7-16 days. Delivery details will be provided in your confirmation email.
Do I need to butter my Silpat mold or mat?
No, there’s no need to grease your mold or mat. Our products’ fiberglass and non-stick silicone will ensure flawless unmolding every time.
How do I unmold my mold?
Our molds’ components make unmolding a piece of cake, since they’re so flexible and non-stick. Your cake won’t stick and it’ll look like a pro made it. You can unmold while it’s still hot from the oven (wait a moment so you don’t burn yourself though), or after letting the mold cool slightly for more delicate bakes like madeleines and sponge cake. However, don’t wait for your bake to cool fully before unmolding.
Can I use my mat in the oven and/or the freezer and refrigerator?
Unlike low-cost molds and mats, high-quality Silpat® and Flexipan® molds and mats can be safely refrigerated and frozen (they can withstand temperatures down to -40°F). You can unmold them as soon as you take them out of the freezer. The same applies to baking. Our products are oven-safe up to 428°F, but let the mold cool down a bit before handling it so you don’t burn yourself.
Can I use my mat or mold in a deep fryer, cast-iron casserole, etc.?
Our mats and molds are not made to be used like this. Our mats can be used in the oven. The microwave mat can be used in the microwave, since it’s smaller. Our molds are oven- and microwave-safe if they fit in the oven or microwave. Our mats and molds can also be refrigerated and frozen.
Can I use my Silpat® mat or mold on a baking tray that is smaller than the mat/mold?
Our mats and molds shouldn’t be used on trays or racks smaller than them, as this may damage them. We also recommend making sure that the product edges aren’t touching the oven walls. We recommend using the Silpat baking tray for optimum performance.
Can I use my mat or mold on a barbecue?
Our mats and molds aren't made for barbecuing. Our mats can be used in the oven. The microwave mat can be used in the microwave, since it’s smaller. Our molds are oven- and microwave-safe if they fit in the oven or microwave. Our mats and molds can also be refrigerated and frozen.
Can you really bake with it? Are these products oven-safe?
Yes, of course! Professional pastry chefs around the world have been baking with our products for over 50 years. Oven temperature depends on the recipe you’re making, but our products can be used at temperatures up to 428°F. You can even use for frozen recipes (down to -40°F).
Can I put my mat or mold directly on a burner?
As the instructions for use say, never place your mat or mold direct contact with a heat source such as a stove or hotplates. Never use a mat or mold at the bottom of an oven, on a grill, or on a barbecue.
Can I use my mat in the microwave?
Yes, definitely! Simply place your microwave mat right in the middle of your microwave or on its turntable. We recommend using the Silpat® microwave mat, since its octagonal shape was specially designed for this appliance.
How long will it take for my mat or mold to cool down?
Your mat or mold product will immediately begin cooling down after you take it out of the oven. Handle with care so you don’t burn yourself. Your tray or rack may remain hot, or at least warm, for some time after baking.
Can I cut my Silpat?
As the instructions for use say, you should never cut your mat or mold, as this could damage the product and fiberglass particles could end up in your food.
Can I cut my mat or mold to make it smaller?
Cutting your mat or mold will impact your product’s food-safe qualities. We therefore strongly advise you against cutting your mat or mold.
Why is my product different from the one in the picture?
The product you receive may look slightly different. Our molds and mats are actually handcrafted, which is why their color may sometimes be a bit darker or uneven. This in no way affects their efficiency, use, or technology.
Can mat or mold be used in an air fryer?
Mat and mold can be used in an air fryer. However, please be mindful of the temperature guidelines indicated on the packaging to ensure safe and optimal use. It can be used up to 468 degrees F.
